CME's Products Can Address the US Navy's Demanding Supply Chain
Needs
Commerce Events Appoints Rear Admiral Smoke Hickman to the
Advisory Board
CAMPBELL, Calif., Jan. 2 -- Commerce Events, Inc. (CME), the leader
in powering adaptive supply chains, received additional validation
that it provides the best solutions for demanding military needs. Rear
Admiral Donald E. “Smoke” Hickman, a 37-year veteran of the Navy, has
joined the CME Advisory Board. Admiral Hickman was most recently with
the United States Navy as Commander, Naval Supply Systems Command and
Chief of Supply Corps. As chief executive of one of the largest supply
organizations in the nation, he directed over 10,000 people in 13
locations and managed an operating budget of $2.3 billion.
Admiral “Smoke” Hickman’s leadership and advocacy for aggressive
improvements in logistics was in complete accordance with the proverb
“Where there’s smoke, there’s fire.” Admiral Hickman led an effort to
re-engineer the Navy supply chain for the new millennium, a new
automated information system for distribution of material, and the
creation of the Navy’s first logistics plan. He is a strong advocate
for the adoption of new technologies to streamline Defense logistics.
“CME’s products can shorten and reduce the Department of Defense’s
pipeline and inventory of materials,” said Admiral Hickman. “They also
solve long-standing supply chain management problems that cannot be
tackled with any other solutions available today.”
Having such a distinguished former officer join the CME Advisory
Board is a strong validation of CME’s unique strengths in powering
supply chains that must adapt nearly instantaneously in response not
only to supply chain events but also to other information such as
up-to-the-minute intelligence updates. “Having run not only one of the
largest but also one of the most mobile supply chain organizations in
the world, Admiral Hickman will help us expand our products’ unique
capabilities for both the Defense and the Commercial segments,” said
Anand M. Das, CEO and CTO of Commerce Events, “We are pleased to have
our company’s mission and products validated by a logistics innovator
such as Admiral Hickman.”
